Is Acupuncture Safe?

Yes. Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years, and much research on its safety and efficacy has been published throughout the World, showing that there are no serious side effects to acupuncture.  Acupuncture is also currently used within NHS Hospitals, and is regularly recommended by GPs.

What is Chinese Medicine?

Chinese medicine is a whole medical system that is based on a set of diagnostic methods, principles, and also understandings of the body’s physiology.  Within Chinese medicine, there are four key modalities of treatment – Acupuncture, Tui Na (Bodywork), Herbal Medicine (including food therapy), and Qi Gong (including breathwork).

Can I Receive Treatment if I am Pregnant?

Yes, all of our treatments are safe during pregnancy.  In fact, we are trained to treat women throughout pregnancy for the various conditions that may arise, and often support women throughout the full term of pregnancy.  We take care to use caution and take into account all contraindications.

How many treatments will I need?

Unfortunately this is a tough question to answer, as it depends on so many factors.  During your first consultation, we will have a good idea of how long treatment may be needed depending on your condition and your presentation.  It is common however that you will feel relief after just the first or second session.

Can your treatments be used alongside Western medicine?

Yes, we are commonly working alongside Western medicine and conventional Western treatments.  You will be asked what treatments you are currently receiving, what medications you may be taking and also your medical history so that we can work alongside for the best possible results.
